Dr Derrick Siu

Five acts. One through-line.

A curious life.
Still unfolding.

I’ve been a physician, a teacher, a voice and a mover.
Today I’m building with all of it.

Derrick’s physician chapter

01 / 1997–2009

Physician.

Understanding the body.

Six years studying medicine at the University of Queensland. Internship, surgical assisting and rural skin cancer clinics. Now, a focus on biohacking and longevity.

More from this chapter

Six years studying at the University of Queensland, followed by internship, surgical assisting and rural skin cancer clinics. Along the way, I found a stronger passion for helping people move past their blocks and reach their potential. Today, that curiosity takes me into biohacking and longevity.

Derrick’s teacher chapter

02 / 1997 onwards

Teacher.

Understanding the mind.

Seminars, workshops and a lifelong question: why do we do what we do?

More from this chapter

A year into medicine I chased the glamour of the entertainment industry as a music manager, a detour that took me from London to New York to LA and Midem in Cannes, and burned through my savings. What I found on the far side was teaching: I developed and delivered personal development seminars on motivation, mastery, emotional states, meditation, and memory. An accredited professional speaker before I turned 27. I was teaching transformation in my twenties, decades before I truly understood it. It took the next two decades, and every act that follows, to actually earn what I was saying. Now it's coming back around, at a depth I couldn't have reached back then.

Derrick’s voice chapter

03 / 2000–2020

Film, TV & radio.

Finding expression.

Film, TV, radio, stages and voice coaching. Learning how to connect, and help others find their voice.

More from this chapter

I never understood the power of the voice until I spent years training with Bill Pepper, past head of Voice Studies at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney. That gave me the skill and the tools to carve a career on air and behind the mic. TV host for Discovery Channel and Channel NewsAsia. Radio DJ at Power 98 FM. Voice for hundreds of commercials. Emcee for Samsung, SGX, Bloomberg, UN Women, and a $500M arts centre opening alongside David Foster. I learned to hold a room, tell a story, and move people at scale. Then I ran The Connected Voice workshops to pass on everything I'd learned, helping anyone open up and speak with a fully embodied, free voice.

Derrick’s movement chapter

04 / 2011–2024

Movement.

Making it real.

Over a decade building Superfly Monkey Dragons. Parkour taught me presence, courage, and how to fully align with and trust my body.

More from this chapter

I founded Superfly Monkey Dragons and spent over a decade building movement culture across Southeast Asia. I organised Asia’s first parkour festival, Jump Asia, and Singapore’s first parkour competition, Superfly Showdown. We were the first academy to bring parkour into schools.

With parkour I found community, and the joy of movement.

Interestingly, my injuries came from other pursuits. I’ve spent the last few years learning to rehab them while improving my mobility, strength and conditioning. Bodybuilding has become part of that journey towards the best shape of my life.

Derrick’s builder chapter

05 / 2024 onwards

Builder.

Bringing it together.

Now I’m building software, humanware and hardware. The toolkit finally caught up to the vision.

More from this chapter

AI changed what one person can build. Since late 2024: eight hackathons, multiple wins, and a portfolio of products at the intersection of everything above: health, connection, story, movement. The toolkit finally caught up to the vision.

The toolkit finally
caught up to the vision.

Same curiosity. New ways to put it into the world.
